Caring for Your New Puppy

Thinking about purchasing a Puppy dog ?
When deciding to purchase a Young dog , it is straightforward to to forget how much much care they require. The average dog will live for at least ten years or perhaps longer. You're going to need to provide it with lots of friendship and supply balanced meals and water. All dogs will need frequent excerise and taking for walks two to three times a day, even in the middle of winter!

Bringing the little dog home
When first bringing your young dog home, remember that it'll be a stressed time for the little dog, particularly if this is the 1st time away from its mummy and family. You must give it time to adapt to the new environment in your house. Ensure that the puppy dog knows where its bed, food and water bowls are. The puppies bed should be a shelter to retreat to if things become too stressed. It must be warm, dry, comfortable and draught free. You may use either a powerful card box or a dog bed / basket. Ensure the bed has a warm blanket to keep the little dog nice and warm. Most puppies have a habbit of crying at night, particularly during the 1st week in a new home. The hotter you can make its bed, the more cushty it'll feel. Its a good idea to take your baby dog to the vets during the 1st week you bring it home to have it inspected. The vet will be well placed to organize its vaccination treatments if it hasnt already had them.

Introducing other pets and children
If you already have pets in your house, it is perhaps best to let your new puppydog explore its new environment first, before introducing it to your other pets. When you do introduce your young dog, do it continuously and ensure you are there to observe. Be cautious when introducing or leaving the little puppy with kids. Ensure the kids don't treat the young dog like a toy, instead let the little puppy look into your youngsters and do not let them pick it up too much. Teach your youngsters to respect the dog.

Feeding
When you first take a pup home it's really important to feed it on the same food it's been used to. A unexpected change of diet mixed with the strain of changing to a new home may cause gut upsets and ass rot. If you would like to change the diet, do so continuously by mixing it with the puppies common food.

Taking out for walks
You must attempt to get your baby dog used to walking with a lead when it still is extremely young. Your best to utilise a non-choking collar, and put it on the little puppy for a couple of minutes every day in order that it can become used to it.
